Punta Gallinas Tour Description

This 3-day, 2-night tour to Punta Gallinas starts in Riohacha and takes travelers to explore two of La Guajira’s most outstanding destinations: Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas, the latter recognized as the northernmost point of South America.

The experience is designed for those who want to venture into Alta Guajira and enjoy an authentic journey that combines desert landscapes, direct contact with Wayuu culture, traditional cuisine, turquoise water beaches and the possibility of staying in typical rancherías, sleeping in comfortable chinchorros or, depending on availability, in private rooms.

The tour usually starts in Riohacha with a flexible itinerary that adjusts to weather conditions and road status. Throughout the journey, the operator makes strategic stops for photography, rest and swimming at iconic places like Pilón de Azúcar, Ojo de Agua, the Cabo de la Vela Lighthouse and the majestic Taroa Dunes, where the desert merges with the Caribbean Sea creating an absolutely unique landscape.

One of the most memorable moments of the journey are the sunsets at the lighthouses, both at Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas. There, the sky fills with golden, orange and pink tones that contrast with the desert’s aridity, offering an unforgettable postcard of La Guajira. This adventure allows you to enjoy each site calmly, guaranteeing a truly unforgettable natural, cultural and photographic experience.
